News from FCA

Three interesting news from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles:
-
FCA will stop producing Diesel fueled cars in 2021. Other car manufacturers have already announced similar plans, but for someone growing up in Italy, FIAT cars were the ones everybody had - or better - anyone could afford. Reading FCA is ceasing Diesel car production sounds to me as Diesel is really living its last days in consumer cars.
-
Following nr.1, FCA will be investing 9 billion euros in electric cars, with Fiat 500 seen as the best candidate to be the first green car. Interestingly, some electric propulsor for the Maserati brand will be produced by Ferrari itself.
-
Starting late 2018, FCA will be providing 62,000 minivans to reinforce Waymo's driverless fleet. From FCA press release:
“FCA is committed to bringing self-driving technology to our customers in a manner that is safe, efficient and realistic,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. “Strategic partnerships, such as the one we have with Waymo, will help to drive innovative technology to the forefront.”
