After a year and a half of waiting, the first Italian Apple flagship store is set to open this Thursday, June 26th in Milan. The event was long anticipated and Angela Ahrendts herself gave a long interview to a "milanese" magazine ten days ago.
Today, Apple opened the store's doors to the press for a preview and we can finally see how it looks.
The store's design was curated by Norman Foster and it was built on an old movie theater. The design is unique in Europe for it embraces the surrounding elements with a hand-cut stone amphitheater stairway leading to the store entrance, a water fountain and a waterfall right before the lower entrance.
The fountain is made of 56 water jets that can reach an height of 8m, while the water cascade is composed by 4 thousands nozzles.
The stairway is to host several events, with Today at Apple coming to Italy for the first time and several artists that will celebrate the store openings.
Giuseppe Caropreso, market director Apple Southern Europe, during the press preview:
