Unified messaging platform

Speaking of messaging services, having a unified system to deal with all the ways there are to share messages would be a pretty good idea.
So good, Facebook is said to have got on it and is planning on merging WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messanger, not much as apps, but rather as platforms to make them interoperable. Once this is accomplished, an Instagram user could send a message to a WhatsApp one, without having to worry wether the recipient has the account on one service or the other.
That's great news actually, it's kind of strange to think at what service to use if you wish to write to somebody.
Better, it would be great news if only Facebook wasn't that creepy company it is, with all its privacy scandals and bad company practices.

So, yes, great idea, but could someone else make it instead?
