Group FaceTime bug
Feb 3, 2019
Serious bug in group FaceTime where one could hear the other talk without asking for permission.
A couple of thoughts about it:
- kudos to the boy who found it out and his mother who restlessly tried to inform Apple about this. I hope Apple recognizes them an award;
- interesting how this bug went undetected through iOS 12 beta period and for all these months;
- I wonder what people that would want to use group FaceTime, and don't follow the tech related news, are thinking right now.
I tried to see what would happen when trying to make a group call, and the call just dropped or the contact to be added was marked as not capable of joining a FaceTime call at all, the latter option being quite incoherent since contacts appear to be capable of FaceTime - aka their name is blue - if you call them as number 1, but are grayed out if you call them as number 2.
Maybe, putting out a message alerting users group FaceTime is currently disabled upon trying didn't sound like a nice idea.
